Ejoe first started dancing in the streets of South Bronx during the late 70’s amidst the birth of Hip Hop. Early in his career, as a teenager he appeared in numerous music videos with artists such as MC Lyte, Heavy D, Deee-Lite to name a few and movies like New Jack City, Juice, Strictly Business, and won the Apollo Theater’s Amateur Night competition four consecutive times, which lead him to be accepted into the prestigious High School of Music and The Performing Arts(remember Fame?). Later, in the midst of New York’s developing House music scene, he would find his calling, making a transition from Hip Hop to the House style of dance. When on tour in Japan, Ejoe became the first to introduce House to a predominantly Hip Hop-based Japanese community, creating a nationwide following, choreographing and dancing with Japanese pop super-groups ZOO, T.R.F, and Namie Amuro. He is credited for the innovation of House Dance infusing footwork, dynamic floorwork and acrobatics, a style which is emulated around the world.
In 1993, Ejoe started a 10-year working relationship as a “principal” dancer for international superstar Mariah Carey. Also joining the Elite Force dance crew, he would later work with Will Smith in major videos “Men in Black” and “Getting Jiggy Wit It,” as well as opening the Soul Train 25th Annivesary Special, American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and Divas Live. In 2002, he joined the Off-Broadway musical sensation Stomp, and has been maintaining an active schedule, judging huge dance competitions such as Juste Debout, 4 Da Next Level and many others, and teaching dance reaching thousands of students worldwide. As a DJ he started under the name DJ Twelve with the pioneering Konkrete Jungle Collective who throws the longest running Jungle/Drum N Bass weekly in the world with chapters all over the globe.
